The Backstory

Let me introduce myself.

I hail from the warm and friendly heartland of America. My mother, a teacher, and my father, a captain in the Iowa State Patrol, instilled in me a strong work ethic, meaningful values to lead a principle-centered life, and an awareness to treat others with honor and respect. After attending college, my high school sweetheart and I were married and made our home in the Kansas City area, where we raised our son and two daughters, who are now young adults.

Putting aside early but serious aspirations of pursuing a career as a professional ballet dancer or getting a degree in art, I opted for a more pragmatic route. I received two degrees in education: Early Childhood Education and Elementary K – 9. I taught at the preschool, elementary, and junior high levels for nine years and worked in rural, low-income, urban, and wealthy suburban settings. I learned a lot! During this time, I immersed myself in the emerging fields of brain research and the elements of effective instruction. I was intent on raising the likelihood that my students would maximize their learning potential. I loved crafting the art and honing the skills embodied in master teachers.

When our second child was born, I accepted a position with Kansas State University as a student-teacher supervisor, a career that would give me more time at home with my young children. For another nine years, I worked with young teachers as their on-the-job mentor, instructor, and evaluator. This experience taught me how to discern why some teaching approaches worked and others did not and reflect on the more subtle influences of affect, body language, tone, and energy (one’s “vibe”) that played in the effectiveness of a teacher. Indeed, there was this X-factor to exceptional teachers, which was more than an accumulation of smartness, honed technical skills, and an aptitude for working with young people. I would later learn in my studies with energy that the X-factor has to do with a high level of coherence or a balanced and harmonized personal field of energy.

With this work, I also learned to be honest and direct with people, speak the truth with diplomacy in a way that could be received, and influence positive change. Again, I later learned from my studies with energy that I was successfully, albeit unwittingly, working from the field of the heart. These experiences and understandings have transferred to all kinds of situations, conditions, endeavors, and relationships in my life. Now in my work, I assist all types of people, not just teachers, to increase the coherence of their own pulsating fields of influence and create positive change.

Then, New Territory…

“According to your maps, the world of thought is coterminous with your culture. It ends at the border of your culture, and if you venture beyond that border, you simply fall off the edge of the world. Tomorrow we’ll screw up our courage and cross that border. And as you’ll see, we will not fall off the edge of the world; we’ll simply find ourselves in new territory.”    --Ishmael by Daniel Quinn

A dear friend introduced me to the world of energy, spirituality, and the exploration of “realms not seen.” I had never heard of these concepts before, and at first, I found it all a bit unsettling. I didn’t want to be gullible, but I could not quit thinking about them despite my resistance to believe these concepts could be real. I read and studied every book on the subject that came into my awareness. I chewed on the concepts, accepting some, and rejecting others. I found others who were equally passionate, and I participated in discussion groups and went to lectures. I even went to a variety of energy practitioners myself and experienced my own profound healing and growth. Then I was compelled to take classes in SRT (Spiritual Response Therapy) and became a certified practitioner in 2000. Since then, I have trained in all manner of energy modalities throughout the country with some of the most renowned experts in the field.

This led to one of my most profound learning and growth opportunities: attending Holos University Graduate Seminary from 2016-2018, culminating in my ordination through All Faith’s Church of Spirituality and Health. It was there that I was able to fully integrate universal principles of energy medicine, spirituality, and holistic health through self-development, scholarly exploration and research. Now, at Akamai University in the CAM (Complementary and Alternative Medicine) Doctoral Program, I am completing my studies and research, specializing in Energy Psychology.

I am keenly interested in spirituality, psychology, and quantum physics and am fascinated to witness the convergence of science and spirit. My work has evolved into a powerful “consciousness technology” which I have named Holofield Healing, and it appears to be a remarkable vehicle for transformation. My great joy is to bear witness as my clients align with their Essential Self and entrain to higher levels of coherence, wellness, harmony, clarity, and peace.
